what is serabi? a delicious traditional pancake originally from Solo made from rice flour, brown sugar and a bit touch of pandan leave. The tastiest part is the sweet brownish ridge along the cake edge.

False serabis Not many people know that the genuine serabi only exists in Solo. Other similarly-named food such as "surabi" from West Java is in fact a totally different food whereby in Java it is known as apem.

paradise of winery sightseeing

It might be one of those most enjoyable moments in my life. Californian uphill areas are the heaven of the States. Even though it might be for a different reason, it is appropriately nick-named the Golden state. And I found myself driving with hubby along a handsome route flanked by beautiful hills of grape yards of Napa valley. We stopped by one of the wine-making house, tasted some wine and took a joyful stroll around the area nearing the sunset. Frankly, from all those trips I have traveled, that evening in Napa was different. How would I score my trip this time. It was certainly a perfect ten!

Well how would it feel like to see around Napa valley? Imagine you drive a new Ford Focus car, no need to have Air Cond on, just open the window a little bit and feel the breeze of the late afternoon. Look out the window, all you see is the greenest and freshest gardens of grape that will delight your eyes. You could almost smell the grapes, that was being brewed to make the finest wine.

(amateur)wine.tasting

We do not drink. Well, ok, occasionally we add some wine into our carte du jour. Normally we would drink fruit juices with our daily menu: orange, apple, avocado, mango, carrot, ... almost any well known fruits under the sun. Hubby is also a tea drinker. So when it came to tasting wine, he really appeared amateur. I should take him to tea tasting in Guang Zhou next time ....
